Tourism, and Trade (MITYC) is not financing the programme in 2011 does not preclude the Autonomous Communities wishing to do so from announcing new calls for regional projects to be financed using their own resources or using any surplus funds remaining from transfers made by the MITYC previous years for projects that had been approved but not carried out or only partially carried out by the benefitting bodies and companies. Hence, the Autonomous Communities that consider it appropriate may announce new calls for regional projects up until 2013 and these will be run in conjunction with the MITYC while resources awarded by the Ministry are being used. In the Autonomous Communities of Andalusia, Aragon, Cantabria and Valencia calls have already been announced for 2011.
The aid lines for innovation in SMEs included in any calls that may be announced over the upcoming years must comply with the stipulations of Royal Decree 1579/2006 of December 22 and the beneficiaries will remain small- and medium-sized enterprises with one or more employees and/or intermediate bodies (public or private not-for-profit organizations that habitually provide services to support innovation in SMEs and which have sufficient material and human resources available).
In the four years the programme has been up and running, a total of 15,497 projects have been given approval and this has benefitted some 30,000 small- and medium-sized enterprises. During these four years, subventions of €312,600 million have been awarded, and 45,900 of this was allotted to superregional projects. The MITYC contributed approximately 76% of the €312,600 million awarded in subventions and the rest came from the Autonomous Communities.
