The InnoEmpresa programme supports innovation and exclusively targets SMEs. It is a programme included in the government’s National Reform Plan and in the Business Encouragement Plan (2006). So far, it is the only sub-programme within the National Programme for Innovation Projects within the National R&D+I Plan (2008-2011).
InnoEmpresa is a programme jointly managed with the Regions through the Sectorial Conference of the SME, the Board of Directors General with responsibility for the SME Policy and Combined Committees for the assessment of projects (one per region, comprising representatives of the MITYC ministry and the respective Regional Government). Its funding is also shared: thus it is estimated that, between 2007 and 2013, the MITYC will contribute about 500 million euros to fund it, with another 125 million euros coming from the regions and 110 million euros from the ERDF.
